RE: Coronavirus (COVID-19) Safety Methods

To the Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy employees that are working tirelessly through this pandemic, the Alabama Board of Pharmacy understands, appreciates and thanks all for utilizing methods during this unprecedented time to hopefully minimize exposure and transmission of COVID-19.

Examples of these methods are as follows:

1) Increase curb side service

2) Increase/encourage drive through transactions

3) Increase home deliveries

4) Widen checkout counters

5) Plastic shields at checkout counters

6) Availability of hand sanitizer for both patients and employees

7) Increase cleaning measures and supplies for the pharmacy area

8) Utilize personal protection equipment as available (i.e. masks, gloves)

9) Limit transaction to patient or authorized representative only

10) Observe safe distancing

These measures are intended to help protect both the patient and the employees.

The Board encourages all pharmacists, technicians, and pharmacies to take all available precautions in an effort to protect themselves and the patients they serve from exposure to COVID-19.
